Hoof in Mouth

So, as everyone knows, Sagis have "Hoof in Mouth Disease." I'm wondering if any of you find that this manifests in you via your Sagi rising.

I'm Sagi sun as well as Sagi Asc, so I have it bad -- uncurable. I say things that hurt people's feelings without even realizing that I've done it. I'm honest to a fault, and if you ask my opinion, you better be ready to hear it -- usually uncensored.

Over the years, I've tried to curb this and to pay more attention to what I say.

What about you? Does this challenge you as well? How? Does your sun sign influence how it manifests?

oh yeah, this is a biggie for me. I'm a Taurus so I don't say much in the first place, but occassionally I'll let a real doozie fly without even thinking about it. and I'll say it real emphatically, so I come across as being real ignorant/uncaring. There is always an edge of truth to it, though.

I like to think of it as "saying what nobody else is thinking but is afraid to say", but really I don't premeditate these things, they just come flying right out before I realize what I've done.

often involved is jumping over the established chain of command, ignoring hierarchy, intense criticism of something that everyone LOVES and holds sacred... ...then someone ends up being HURT (by mere words, which were not even personally directed -- it boggles my mind).

Generally, Taurus doesn't share the optimism of Sadge... ...so when I say something like this, it's often edged with a deep driving stubborn criticism, a hard-edged negativity -- really an attempt to tear the costume off of some sort of false pretense.

I am generally a pretty articulate writer, also, so if I'm putting something into words I can get really nasty and creative. Again, all without realizing I'm doing it until after the fact.

...among the most offended in such instances are Libra/Gemini and Cancer/Pisces. I practically have to tape my mouth shut around people with lots of planets in those signs, if I want to be friends with them.

However, Fire & Earth signs usually appreciate this side of me, as do Aquarians and some Scorpios.

Yah, it's been my experience too that Aquarians share some of the same appreciation for honesty. And Scorpios... I dunno. Maybe it's just morbid fascination. Hehe. Seriously, I think you're right that Scorpios tend to appreciate the honesty, especially if it's not directed at them. Personally, I find Leos the most sensitive.

Do you think it's the "truth" in your honest that hurts the most? I often find this, especially in situations where I'm correcting someone or calling them on their bullshit. Like you, it just flies out of my mouth. For example, the other day, I found myself disbelievingly saying, "Come on!" to a Taurus friend of mine who had just proclaimed that she had done something altruistically, when I knew it wasn't true. Ummm... too late to backtrack at that point. I was right, but she didn't appreciate being called on it. Sigh.

I know exactly what you mean about jumping the chain of command. I do the same thing. It's not rebellion or conscious political maneuvering, it's just... efficiency. It's the belief that everyone is on the same team, maybe. I dunno. What do you think? What's the underlying attitude that causes us to see jumping the chain as okay?

lots to chew on here.... :)

We are useful for Scorpios -- we can point things out (to them and to others) that they are thinking but aren't willing to say, or that they had not yet noticed/incorporated into their devious plot.... :)

....Scorpios can usually tell if you're lying, but if you are not lying in order to manipulate THEM, it usually isn't a big deal -- I have found that they usually understand the importance of, and reasoning behind, a well-placed lie. I find myself lying to Scorpios every now and then in order to protect myself from them. They don't put truth on a pedastal (that's more a Sagittarian thing), but they tend to put power on a pedastal -- they will use literally every nugget of information you give them (very industrious)...

(apologies if I offended any Scorpios with these statements)

I totally hear you on Leos -- very sensitive, a lot of pride there. They really don't like having their flaws pointed out (especially in public). I can usually make up with them pretty easily, though... ...unlike those other signs I mentioned above, who are just plain frightened away...

It seems that lot of people can't stand being told the truth when they are living some sort of lie -- I suppose that it is painful when it forces them to take a harder, more judgmental look at themselves. A lot of people don't like to be "seen through", or whatever, especially if they think they are being oh-so-clever, or when they aren't even aware of their own BS until someone else calls em on it...

(However, it is just nature taking its course, IMO)

Regarding hierarchies, I am just in general unconcerned with them and often frustrated by the pageantry of bureacracy -- brown-nosing, "paying dues", etc... ...I am not much for competition in general, or roles -- I wish people could be more versatile and less concerned with "identity" or "legacy".

          ha ha....

this is interesting for me since I'm Scorp with Sag rising.

I definitely am hurtful with pointing out people's faults and flaws.
It's also very important to me that I know people are honest with me,
and I'll be completely honest MOST of the time...
with a few "well placed lies" as you put it Ewan. he he...

Yeah, I suffer from the same malady. Fortunately, I have a couple planets in scorpio, and I think this helps me keep my mouth shut sometimes. I can say some pretty stupid shit at times, tho. I find I have to plan what I say if it's important. One of the biggest problems, tho is that I have a tendency to assume too familiar a level of conversation with people I don't know that well sometimes, that's when I get myself into trouble.

i understand the "familliar" aspect. i get rolling in a conversation with someone, and suddenly i forget that i don't "really" know them. you know, when you're talking and laughing away and suddenly you look up and their jaws have dropped and eyes are bugging....? sometimes i won't even realize what it was that got to them.

Hell yes this is a big problem ...I am a sagittarius rising and venus with a capricorn sun...so the openess and innocence about me is often tempered by my dark melancholic urges...and sometimes it's not pretty...I feel pretty bad when I do offend people and the thing is I don't know even realize what I've done at the time because I'm just happy to be socializing.....

Well, I guess you have pointed me out . Sometimes, I just can't keep my mouth shut or cool it off from what I am thinking at the monment. As a result, I go ballistic and say things I later regret. Lately, I try to slow down a bit but I still have a long way to go. wodering whether I need the lifetime to perfect this. Especially now, because I am so sicken tired of my current job, so I am totallt fed up, which make things more difficult to control myself most of times. Only if I know how to distant myself from my instant recation. I guess I have to be more proactive instead of reactive. It is the curse we all need to deal with for as long as we live. Open for suggestions

to remedy this ? I usually just hang out with other people who are as "authentic" as myself. I can be extremely senstitive sometimes so this usually gets me to see pretty quickly how " painfully honest" people can be painful....

One of my co - workers is like this. He takes it to new levels though......He makes my eyes tear up at work sometimes because he's so cruel.

i don't suffer from this at all. i'm an evil and vindictive son-of-a-bitch, however, so i have a tendancy to say things just for the hell of it anyway.

i do, however, also have a tendancy to be a little too honest at times, particularly with first impressions. ~ahem~

a native's rising sign is an indicator of how that person approaches superficial situations. it determines how you meet people for the first time, among other situations.
when you are sitting in bed reading a book and your telly rings, you pick it up and speak "hello?"
how you greet that person is determined by your ascendant.
the newer the situation, the more you will appear like your rising sign.
the more familiar you become with the situation, well more of the rest of your chart you will become activated. certain situations will activate certain parts of your chart, and will neglect other parts of your chart.
i would think that most people with sagittarius rising are rather quick to be blunt with new situations, but become rather different quite quickly depending on the rest of their chart, particularly because sagittarius is a quick sign, quick to learn, and quick to leave, which seems to be what the rising sign's purpose is for us. it introduces the native to situations, and then hands the newly gathered information over to the rest of the chart.

I am also a Sag rising with a Taurus sun and a Scorpio moon. I have a bad habit of being brutally honest about things that no-one else will discuss....the pink elephant in the middle of the room really pisses me off....and I will show it to whoever I can....I am a very loyal and compassionate friend..... but I cant stand relationships that dont have integrity.....so please dont lie to me because I will see it and call you on it.
